FY-3E is part of China's FengYun meteorological satellite programme and carries the Joint Total Solar Irradiance Monitor (JTSIM). PMOD/WRC contributed the Digital Absolute Radiometer Assembly (DARA), a high-precision instrument designed to measure the Total Solar Irradiance (TSI), the primary energy input from the Sun to the Earth's climate system.
Continuous monitoring of solar irradiance is essential for understanding solar variability and its influence on Earth's atmosphere and climate. The JTSIM-DARA instrument provides high-quality TSI observations, contributing to long-term climate studies and international solar irradiance records.
PMOD/WRC developed the DARA absolute radiometer technology integrated into the JTSIM payload. The mission represents an important international collaboration and extends PMOD/WRC's long-standing heritage in space-based solar irradiance measurements.
